TikTok is a social app for watching and creating short-form videos, following creators and joining live broadcasts. Its mix of video, Shop and LIVE features suits people who want entertainment and creator content in one place, as well as those who want to browse products featured in the app.
The main experience is a stream of videos to browse, with recommendations shaped by what you watch and interact with. You can also make and share your own videos using the app’s creation and editing tools. Following accounts gives you another way to keep up with creators whose posts you want to see.
LIVE lets creators broadcast in real time, while viewers can watch and interact during a stream. TikTok Shop brings product listings into the app, where people can explore items from participating sellers and creators. These features add more than video browsing, though not every user will want social, live and shopping content together.
TikTok is built around a continuous stream of content, so it can be easy to keep browsing. The recommendations may help surface videos that match your interests, but they also mean the feed can change as you use the app. If you prefer a quieter or more focused social app, its combination of video, LIVE and Shop may feel busy.
